New Service Provides Single Internet ID
iDOO.com announced that it is now one of the first European portals to offer OpenID, a new service allowing any Web user to use a single Internet address and to identify themselves on the Web. The principle is as follows: the Web user specifies his/her new identity on the site’s server at www.OpenIdoo.com (available in beta version) and gets it back as a simple URL. The surfer then can add more profiles according to individual Internet needs, for example, Internet search, e-shopping, membership services, information, and so forth. In order to connect to a (compatible) site, the OpenIDOO server automatically checks the Web surfer’s OpenID and connects him/her instantly. Close to 5,000,000 users on iEUROP Web sites are directly affected. In addition to http://www.iDOO.com, its new contributory Web site, iEUROP is going to offer this identification service to all other users in the future. Certain content sites will benefit from security, ease of use, access to reports on personal Web activity, and the availability of several profiles according to Internet use habits.
