Annual Golf Day
The Australia Chapter held its Annual Golf Day at the Muirfield Golf Club in North Rocks on Friday, September 28. There was a great turnout, with 12 teams vying for a number of great prizes--and bragging rights.

As well as being a perfect way to kick off the long weekend and network with 50 industry colleagues, this was an opportunity for golfers of all abilities to compete for some amazing prizes. Thanks to the generosity of Interpoint Events, top prize was four tickets, worth over $1,000 each, to attend the forthcoming TraceTech-ID Conference on October 23-24. Equally generous were AWA, who donated two “nearest to the pin” prizes of a set-top box and a CD player, and Blackbay, who donated an iPod for the “longest drive.” Other prizes up for grabs were a box of golf balls (Demand Flow Intelligence), 15 bottles of top-notch Australian wine (AFSMI), quality umbrellas (ClickSoftware), and T-shirts (TeamFrame).

Ambrose Rules meant that every team had a chance, as long their team included at least one fairly experienced player. After enjoying bacon-and-egg rolls (hot off the barbie) with coffee, players teed off at 8:30 a.m. and were having lunch (or humble pie) by 2 p.m. The prize ceremony was great fun, and afterward many golfers headed home, clutching their prizes and eager to begin the long weekend. The chapter encourages global members to mark their 2008 calendars to join in the fun and networking of this popular annual event.

TraceTech ID 2007
On October 23-24 at the Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh, Sydney, the chapter is supporting TraceTech ID 2007 (www.tracetech.com.au), a new two-day conference and exhibition designed to inform and educate senior supplychain and logistics managers responsible for the performance of a company’s supply chain about the benefits of improved traceability of goods, people, and assets and how to apply it to their own supply chains. The chapter has a session at 4 p.m. on day one of the conference, which members and supporters are invited to attend free of charge. The topic discussed will be “Track and Trace in Workforce Mobility,” with John Falconer (National IS Manager, Air Liquide) and Geoff Bowker (COO, Spectrax) presenting a case study.
